Bearsden and Milngavie
Health Centre

Many of our local health facilities are no longer fit for purpose, and the residents of Milngavie and Bearsden deserve better. The existing Milngavie Clinic building is costly to maintain, expensive to heat and many vital services simply aren't available there. Right now, residents, including the elderly and those with mobility challenges, are having to travel to Glasgow for appointments and care that should be on their doorstep.

This must change.

Susan Murray is campaigning for a one-stop hub in Milngavie, bringing GPs, mental health, physiotherapy, other allied health professionals and care services together under one roof, ending the need for vulnerable residents to make unnecessary journeys across the city.

Susan recently met Sandra, a local resident who, due to her disability, relies on others to get to her appointments. A year of tests and examinations has taken her all over Glasgow, with trips that can take half an hour or more each way. A health centre in Milngavie would be just three minutes from her home . Sandra's story is why Susan keeps campaigning for this.

Susan has written to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde urging collaboration with the East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership to make this a priority. In December 2025 she took the fight to Westminster. Susan urged the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to join her in writing to the Scottish Government to fund a new health centre for Milngavie and Bearsden.

Despite funding commitments and continuous calls from the community, there have been years of delay. Susan is determined to keep pushing until Milngavie and Bearsden get the health care they deserve.
