Local Schools

The condition of some older school buildings in Mid Dunbartonshire is not good enough. Susan is pushing hard for the funding needed to replace them. 

St Helen's Primary School is a prime example. Pupils and families will have to wait 12 years for the school to be rebuilt. Susan has been clear: that timescale is unacceptable. She has called on the Scottish Government to provide the capital funding needed to get on with the job and has been pressing the UK Government to ensure that funding reaches communities like ours. 

Susan is clear that a solution needs to be found for a new Lenzie Academy which takes the view of the wider community into account.  Lenzie Academy is the last secondary school in East Dunbartonshire to be replaced and due to the poor condition of the existing school building, replacement is now urgent. 

Susan will keep fighting until all the children and young people of Mid Dunbartonshire have the modern, fit-for-purpose school buildings they deserve.
